Direct Services Volunteer

Family Rescue volunteers make an immediate difference in people’s lives by working directly with victims of domestic violence. Current opportunities include:

  • Crisis Line Volunteer
  • Children’s Group Volunteer
  • Childcare Volunteer

All direct service volunteers are required to attend 40-hours of domestic violence training, which is provided four times per year. Interested volunteers must complete an application and interview with the volunteer coordinator. The Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals lists Family Rescue as an approved training site. For more information, call the Human Resource Director at (773) 375-1918.

40-Hour Domestic Violence Training

Family Rescue is an approved training site for the 40-hour domestic violence training which all direct service volunteers are required to complete.  It is also open to social service and other professionals interested in learning more about domestic violence.

Our next training is from June 4-June 29, 2017 (see schedule below).  The cost is $250.00 per person.  You may pay online with a credit card and email your registration form to or send a check with your registration form to:

From Event Planning to Community Outreach

Special Events Volunteer

Family Rescue organizes special events to raise awareness of domestic violence, gain program funds, and increase our supporters. We are always looking for volunteers with experience in event planning, marketing, fundraising and professional writing. Depending on interests, experience and scheduling, volunteers may help with event planning, community outreach, public relations or by working the day of the event.
